aboutmenewHello and welcome! It is so nice to have you found me! You can call me Charina. I was born and raised in the Philippines. In April of 2003, I moved to North Carolina with our then 1 year old daughter so we can be with my husband and start a new life as a family.

In 2008, we have fulfilled our dream of finally settling in our new home. A few months after that, my husband was laid off his job of 13 years. Through prayers and God’s help, I found a job at
a university in Chapel Hill. It is a job that is not meant for everybody, if I may say so….but it is a job that helped us keep the house, feed my family and survive. Those last five years after that lay off was one of the most trying times in our life. In those trying times, I seek God. I found comfort knowing that He is there walking beside us and most of the times, carried us.

You can read, share and experience those moments with me through my book, “Finding God in the Ordinary – {embracing a God-filled life}.”

I hope you will join me here at Pondered Thoughts as I continue to seek, find and praise God in the ordinary.

  1. I read about you in the University Gazette and was very impressed with your accomplishments. I hope you continue working as you set an example for other women especially and your daughter. Women need to be financially independent as you never know what may happen. Other positions may come to your attention that will allow you to continue to be a life’s example for others and you may use your other skills. I’m sure your family is very proud of you.

    • Hi Sydney! You have no idea how much your message meant to me and it couldn’t come at a better time. I am home today, celebrating my birthday in stillness and I was just thinking how much I miss blogging and how long it have been since I wrote my last post. Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my humble place and for the encouraging message. I really do hope that, someday soon, I will be given a chance to share my other skills in another department at the university that will allow me to continue to inspire while allowing me to grow intellectually. Have a blessed day and I hope to meet you in person someday! 🙂

The address to my new, self-hosted blog is http://www.jennifershopeblog.com. I am hoping that you will take a moment to check it out.
