“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
It started with our usual before bed Mommy and Nikki talk. Where we share anything or everything that happened to our day.
She said she was bothered. Hurt. A girl in her class was telling bad things behind her back. Told it to another girl, one whom she consider to be her best friend. She was hurt. Doesn’t understand why she was doing that. Reason why she doesn’t look forward to going to school at times. Reason why she always looks forward to Fridays and the weekends. She didn’t do anything.
“All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Isaiah 54:13
She cried. I cried.
She told me of how other kids would make fun of another girl – a special child – an autistic. How she felt bad and sad for her. How she would encourage her and help her.
“Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.” Proverbs 29:17
She was hurting. I was hurting.
Nikki is my only child. The sweetest, most loving, caring, obedient daughter anybody could ask for. She is in an AIG class and also a consistent “A Honor Roll” student.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17

We talked.
How God sees and knows everything. How much God loves her…all of us. I told her God can be her best friend. Oh how much she cried at this thought…so am I.
I explained.
Why some kids behave that way. Why they act certain ways. Why they treat other kids unkindly.
I encouraged.
To love, to be patient, to understand, to reach out and help. To stand up for her and for others.
We prayed.
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6-9
Will you join me in prayer for all our children and our youth who are hurting?
…..for those who are lost and are needing love?
